For the sixth year in a row, HSAwareness sponsored a food drive over the holidays to help provide meals for local families throughout the Chicago area. Canned goods and other shelf-stable foods were collected and donated to the Greather Chicago Food Depository to help support its mission to fight food insecurity in our community. Last week, the Greater Chicago Food Depository confirmed that, through the generosity of our clients, over 84 pounds of food were collected which will provide 70 meals to families throughout Cook County. Through its annual holiday food drives, HSAwareness has helped to provide over 10,000 meals to local families in need with the help of our team members, clients, and partners.

According to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, over 800,000 people in the Chicago area are unsure of where their next meal will come from, and the food insecurity rate is as high as 1 in every 2 children in some communities within Cook County. Given the urgency and importance of this issue, HSAwareness looks forward to building on our efforts in this year’s food drive to support the mission of the Greater Chicago Food Depository to fight hunger in our community.
