HSA COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE BRINGS CRAIG J. PHILLIPS ON BOARD TO HEAD FIRM'S DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

(Chicago – February 28, 2008) Jack Shaffer, chairman, and Robert E. Smietana, CEO, vice chairman, HSA Commercial Real Estate, have announced that the firm has hired Craig J. Phillips as executive vice president and head of the firm’s development division, effective immediately.
Phillips, 47, comes to HSA with over 20 years of experience in project development experience, most recently as a partner and regional vice president at Seefried Properties, Inc., headquartered in Des Plaines, Ill. At Seefried, Phillips delivered over 1,000,000 square feet of industrial space with a market valuation in excess of $100 million.
“We are very fortunate to have Craig Phillips join our development team at this time,” said Smietana. “HSA has 3,000,000 square feet of large and exciting development projects in the pipeline for 2008, and Craig has come on board at a most opportune time.”
Phillips’ responsibilities with HSA will be extensive, including creating new development opportunities for the firm and managing the development, leasing and entitlement processes to a successful project.
Phillips is a graduate of Northwestern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He also earned his MBA at the Anderson Graduate School of Business, UCLA, in Los Angeles, Cal., with a concentration in Real Estate and Finance. While at UCLA, Phillips was a member of the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
A respected member of the development community, Phillips has had articles published in several magazines, was named the 2006 Village of Bensenville “Business Person of the Year”, was a 2006 NAIOP finalist for his firm’s redevelopment of the 253,000-square-foot Eagle Global Logistics build-to-suit property in Elk Grove Village, Ill., and was awarded the 2007 Village of Wilmette Historic Preservation Award for new residential construction. Phillips is a licensed Illinois real estate broker and an active member and sponsor of SIOR, NAIOP and AIRE.
